Bear Hunts
Bear hunting with hounds is the most exciting and physically demanding hunt you can go on. The outfitters and guides usually have trouble going to sleep the night before the hunt anticipating the following day. With endless miles of forest for the bear to run in and his knowing, all the places few men go you are in for a treat of rugged and breathtaking mountains and hollows. Thin air may take your breath before the scenery has a chance so to enjoy the hunt to the fullest plan ahead and be in your best physical condition.
SureStrike furnishes: tent camps, guide using 4X4 pickup, HOUNDS (the most important thing) meals, and all the tall stories you can stand (some true - some not so true - you are free to believe some or none). Taylor your hunt to what you want and can afford. Fees are negotiable and are dependent on what services you need for me to provide.
Equipment you will need,, License & tag, firearm-bow etc., personal gear, sleeping bag, ammo., Hiking boots - 2 pair one light - one heavy, same with coats 2, rain gear, wide brimmed hat, wool stocking hat or ski mask, flash light, goodies, gloves 2 pair, sun glasses, sun screen, plenty of socks, one pair of heavy underwear and a day pack to carry some of this with you on the hunt. Transportation to the hunt camp and airport or home.
The hunt will start early in the morning and the hounds will be rigged or ground hunted. The hounds sound off when they catch the scent of a bear or a bear trail. Hounds are released and the hunt begins. Make sure you have something to drink in your day pack!! This one may be a long race over a lot of hills. You and the guide follow the hounds and try to keep them in hearing distance. A race may take thirty minutes or four days. The bear will either bay up, tree, fight on the ground and continue walking or worst case scenario, pull out of the country and get away. Once the bear is stopped by the hounds you and the guide catch up and hopefully the hounds can hold him long enough for you to collect your trophy.
If you feel you will need to ride horseback instead of hiking let me know.
I hope to see you on one of our bear hunts this fall.
Guide fee for bear is $2500 per person. License is $260 (non-resident) plus habitat stamp ($5.00)and habitat management & access validation stamp ($4.00).
